Remember

Remember.
Sounds,
voices,
songs.
"Christmas bells are ringing, somewhere else..."
People.
Faces,
Sights,
"Back on the street, where I met my sweet..."
Touch,
wood,
textures,
"We'll pack up all our junk and fly so far away..."
Smells,
paint,
deodorant,
"Would you light my candle?"
Tastes,
sugar,
friendship,
"When the notes are sour..."

Flashes of the senses,
memories seared on my mind
that come back to haunt me
in the middle of the night.
Dreams of a production
long over,
dreams of a family
seperated by summer,
and graduations.

I remember,
for Finale B,
the chorus,
offstage,
would join in.
That was the director's idea,
that there would be a massive,
unseen choir backing up the mains.
And us,
the techies,
who also knew the whole play by heart,
joined in more often than not.

"Life goes on
But I'm gone.
For I'd die
Without you!"
